Sir — This refers to the article, “Doctrine that leans on pillars of hate-violence” (April 13) by Balbir Punj. The writer has explained the dangers of cross-border or transnational Islamic terrorism in a simple but potent way. It is a fact that, while Islamic terrorism and violence are being fought with counter-reactionary violence, the menace of Islamists cannot be fought with force alone.
We have to understand what breeds the hate-mongers. As noted by the writer, violent Islamic groups believe that they alone are following ‘true and pure’ Islam. Ideology has to be fought with ideology.
