Sir — This refers to the article, “Economics and the politics behind ban” (March 27) by Manjula Pal. The author argues against the beef ban by highlighting the economic burden imposed by ageing cattle. But the same concerns apply to humans also, as the elderly impose high costs on society. Besides, even a sick or aged cow gives organic manure and its urine has medicinal values. Cows can be de-skinned after death and their body parts used for other purposes. Please avoid hurting the feelings of Hindus.
