Sir — Though the performance of Brazil in the ongoing FIFA World Cup was not encouraging right from the beginning, nobody ever thought that the kings of football would have to face such a crushing and humiliating defeat at home in the semi-final match against Germany.
It was shocking to see that the Germans pumped as many as five goals into the Brazilian net within the first 30 minutes of the match. They not only created history by scoring seven goals in total — the highest number in any World Cup semi-final — but also benumbed the hosts who crumbled like a pack of cards. The fact that no team that played against Germany conceded seven goals increases the shame for Brazil. The host nation is now in mourning.
It is time for Brazil to undertake a total revamp in its team. Its coach has to devise new strategies and strive hard to regain the status and glory of the team. Football lovers want Brazil to achieve the target in the next World Cup.
