Sir — This refers to the article, “A neighbour not very nice to India” (September 16) by Hiranmay Karlekar. It is true that Pakistan cannot change its mindset and would perennially unleash unrest, violence and terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir along with other sensitive regions in the country. It is Pakistan’s strategic policy. The democratic Government over there cannot abandon this professed policy since the will of the Army and the Inter-Services Intelligence prevails.
Though perpetration of terrorism has been scaled down by some effective pre-emptive steps, but frequent ceasefire violation across the line of Control indicates that the Pakistani Army is helping infiltrators enter into Kashmir and other parts of India, funded by Arab countries. High standard defence preparedness is mandatory to make our country more powerful militarily, which would contain terrorism.
