Sir — Mr Rahul Gandhi has said that the Congress-led Government has given a powerful tool to the citizens in the form of the RTI Act. The Congress vice president must enlighten the people as to how they can fully benefit from the RTI Act if the political parties, including his own, are kept out of its ambit.
Mr Gandhi should also speak about the poor implementation of the RTI Act due to the long-pending second appeals with the Central Information Commission as well as the commission letting off erring officials without imposing any penalties. He must tell the citizens about the steps taken by his Government to protect RTI activists and whistleblowers.
