Sir — This refers to the article, “Bharat Ratna Will Dent Brand Sachin” (November 20) by Rohit Bansal.
The Government has blundered in overlooking the deserving Major Dhyan Chand for the country’s highest honour. The hockey legend did not make hundreds of crores of rupees but he made the world sit up and take notice. Even the choice of Mr CNR Rao for Bharat Ratna was meant to provide a cover for awarding Tendulkar. Mr Rao was worthy of the recognition on his own. He should not have been clubbed with Tendulkar, as the sports star took away the limelight from him.
