His time is now

Sir — This refers to the article, “A tale of two men from Gandhinagar” (September 14) by Ashok Malik. This is a wonderful analysis of BJP patriarch lK Advani’s reasons to block Mr Narendra Modi’s path to the country’s top job.

Ever since Mr Modi was appointed the party’s election campaign chief, Mr Advani has shown his resentment by going into a permanent sulk, resigning from top party posts and then withdrawing those resignations, voicing his concern about ‘polarisation’ and the need to keep NDA allies happy.

The open resentment among the veteran leaders of the BJP over Mr Modi has not gone down well with the voters who wanted to see his elevation as a prime ministerial candidate. It was a good gesture on Mr Modi’s part to pay his respects to Mr Advani at the latter’s residence, after his selection as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate. let’s hope all ends well.
