Sir — The verdict of the Assembly elections in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh has come as a rude shock for the Congress, though it was anticipated by the public at large. The Congress faced a humiliating rout in Delhi. The only solace for the party is its average performance in the State of Chhattisgarh.
Even the most sceptical leader in the Congress would not have expected such a stunning defeat. It seems Mr Narendra Modi’s vow to have a Congress-mukt-Bharat will materialise sooner than later.
The real hero of the current elections is undoubtedly Mr Arvind Kejriwal, who eclipsed the formidable Ms Sheila Dikshit by a huge margin. His Aam Aadmi Party, formed just over a year ago, has created a distinct niche for itself and established a significant position in the electoral fray. It remains to be seen if it will live up to the people’s expectations or flatter to deceive.
