Sir — This refers to the article, “Crucial lessons from Mahakumbh’s success” (May 27) by SK Kumar. No doubt that the Mahakumbh in Allahabad was a great success.
To a great extent it was on account of the strict decisions that were taken to rejuvenate the Ganga and enable people to perform their religious obligations without any hindrance. When some hard decisions are taken at the top level, the entire Government machinery comes into action.
The writer is right to rue a lack of will and sustainability in our major projects, due to which we are lagging behind. The kind of decisions taken before the Mahakumbh should be carried forward to other major rivers of the county, suffering from similar ailments, to yield better results. Any bold decision taken for cleaning and reviving the Ganga is highly appreciated.
