Grossly prejudiced

Published on:

Sir — This refers to editorial, “Poll panel is prejudiced “ (May 9). We have seen illustrious Chief Election Commissioners like Sukumar Sen, T Swaminathan, TN Seshan, MS Gill, JM lyngdoh and SY Quraishi.

They hailed from every nook and corner of India and distinguished themselves with their impartiality, ability to keep in full control the undesirable access of the political establishment to the conduct of free and fair elections of world’s largest democracy. They expected nothing from the establishment after relinquishing their office.

Mr Seshan was a rare person who set strong examples and whose stamp can never be forgotten by India. He is the man who never backed down. However, the current poll panel’s role appears grossly prejudiced.
