The situation in Andhra Pradesh is deteriorating by the day. Fuel crisis and a possible grid breakdown are haunting the State like never before. All this is due to the short-sightedness of the Congress-led UPA Government.
The Centre should seriously think on the lines of slowing down the process of creating a Telangana State. This appears to be the only reasonable alternative for the Centre.
It can still review its decision. The sentiments of the people of different parts of Andhra Pradesh need to be looked into. Though it cannot prevent leaders from playing politics on the issue, the Centre should call Mr N Chandrababu Naidu and Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy for talks to hear their points of view. In parallel, the Centre has no time to waste, and should call in central forces to quell the violence and bring the State back on track. Restoring essential services should be the immediate task of the Government; other things can be taken care of thereafter.
