Sir — This refers to the article, “Need for accountability in politics of dynasty” (January 14) by Joginder Singh. Dynastic politics is, frankly speaking, antithetical to democratic polity. The quest for power and intense love for authority are the supreme desires in dynastic politicians. In practice, their base motive often is to accumulate wealth by looting and plundering national assets by involving in various
corrupt practices.
It is also true that regional politicians in States such as Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, have accumulated huge wealth. It is regrettable and pathetic to point out that on the one hand, our people are hungry; on the other, our politicians are getting so rich. It is time their vast properties and huge wealth are investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation or any other national probe agency. And if these people are found guilty, they must be punished.
