Great statesman

Published on:

Sir — Outgoing US President Barack Obama will be remembered as a great statesman in world’s history. What he has represented and how he has borne himself in office must be seen as more significant and striking than what he has done or achieved during his eight-year stint in the White House.  Obama’s public image is not different from the real person. He has embodied the essential goodness of human nature in his public life and personal life alike.

An impressively tall, lanky black American President sporting a disarming smile, exuding ebullience and talking sense in his stentorian voice like Nelson Mandela’s, Obama has been a world leader. No wonder, thousands braved the harsh winter in Chicago to hear him deliver the farewell speech and millions were glued to the TV to hear him one last time as President.
