Governance ignored

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Exercise in futility” (June 19). All the talk by the Congress of giving young politicians a chance has been brushed under the carpet yet again. We have been used to seeing 70-plus politicians in the Cabinet, so it doesn’t come as a surprise. But what raises questions in our mind is the fact that none from the young brigade of Mr Rahul Gandhi has been given a chance in the Council of Ministers.

Until and unless young people are given an opportunity to lead, how will we know about their potentialIJ The ministerial reshuffle was largely done to douse the internal fire raging within the Congress, keeping the forthcoming elections in mind rather than with the objective of bringing governance back on track.
