This refers to the editorial, “Search on for scapegoats” (May 15), and the report that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi did not turn up for a farewell dinner hosted for outgoing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. One must appreciate the loyalty of Congress leaders and their perseverance to protect their worshipped dynastic leaders. The family gets all the credit for any good work done but the criticism is meant for the others, especially the Prime Minister, who also has very obediently always offered his shoulder.
But blaming Mr Singh, who has been no more than a dummy Prime Minister, is of no use. Good riddance to both the Congress and a Prime Minister who, by overlooking all corruption and not resigning in protest, cannot claim to be virtuous on the basis of personal honesty.
