This refers to the editorial, “Pruning the VIP culture” (April 21). Our dignitaries are expected to be dedicated to the welfare of this country and its people. However, the red beacon culture gave them a sense of unwanted importance (and egotistical). A Minister’s true identity comes from his ability to solve people’s problems and not through trivial things like red signal on his car.
A ban on red beacons is welcome and was necessary to remind our VIPs that, even though they are Ministers, they’re public servants first.
