Good Constitution

Published on:

Sir — This refers to the article, “Footprints of past that Nepal mustn’t follow” (March 11) by Rajesh Singh. let’s not forget the Constitution of 1990, which says clearly that the people, not the king, is sovereign. The Constitution also stood against discrimination on the basis of caste, religion, gender and region.

Nobody objected to its provisions. Politicians, including the Maoists, participated in the poll and got elected. Yet, in 1996, the Maoists began their violent campaign against the elected Government. When the terrorists showed up, our ‘brave’ leaders ran away. Corrupt leaders compromised Nepal’s sovereignty, dharma, democracy and unity.
