Sir — This refers to the report, “Pak Army kills 5 jawans on Indian soil” (August 7). Enough is enough. India must not wait for another dastardly ambush to happen before taking action against a neighbour that has shown itself to be most unworthy of trust or friendly relations. What is even more reprehensible is that the Pakistani military establishment has brazenly refused to even admit that the ambush took place.
The Government must learn from the frequent drone strikes the US launches against the Taliban in Pakistan. India should take a leaf out of the US’s war against terror and take decisive steps to destroy the terror camps operating from the other side of the line of Control.
New Delhi must also not rush with the bilateral talks in a show of goodwill towards the new Nawaz Sharif-led Government. The goodwill gesture should be reciprocal. Pakistan must show by word and deed that it is deserving of our trust and friendship — which is too much to hope for.
