Sir — This refers to the article, “The two biggest threats to world peace today” (September 8) by RK Pachauri. According to the writer, nuclear weapons and climate change are the two threats drawing us at the brink of destruction. Several countries possess nuclear weapons for decades but we never felt such perilous situation as we do now. For instance, North Korea has been justly termed as ‘rogue’ and the US has gone so far as to threaten it with a “fire and fury like the world has never seen”.

The writer is one of the most competent authorities globally to place the blame for climate change threat, especially after the US has withdrawn from the Paris accord and facing protests from the rest of humanity. Will the US be prepared to be called a rogue nation as wellIJ And who is willing to threaten it with sanctions and censor, let alone ‘fire and fury’ to bring it to its knees and go along with the rest of the humanity in right earnestIJ
