Sir — This refers to the article, “The Kejriwal way of dealing with problems” (July 1) by Kalyani Shankar. Delhi cannot have full statehood because, first, Delhi is the capital of India where Parliament, the Supreme Court and foreign embassies exist. Federal capitals like Washington, DC, Beijing, Ottawa and Canberra are all federal cities.
Second, there is no provision for a referendum in our Constitution. In view of strong separatist movements in certain areas, it is dangerous to open the Pandora’s box. Moreover, no national party will support this move of referendum provision.
last, this is only Kejriwal’s attempt to raise a new issue, fanciful to his way of doing or undoing things to divert attention from his existing own created difficulties.
