Foul-mouthed Pal has no place in Indian politics

Published on:

It is unfortunate that politics has reached a nadir in terms of morality and language when it concerns the politicians of the ruling dispensation in West Bengal. Actor-turned-politician and Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Pal has caused great harm to his party's image by the derogatory and unparliamentary language he used against the Opposition in one of his recent rallies. It's a grave mistake of the voters who get influenced by celebrities and help them become politicians. It sets an unhealthy precedent that they can stoop down to such low levels to score political points.

Mr Pal must let go of politics as he suffers from moral bankruptcy. His narrow-minded approach to rape and violence, which was evident in his hate speech, is detrimental to politics and the formation of an ideal society. Instead of being a silent spectator, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee should remove him from the party. This is the only way for the party to correct things.
