Sir — This refers to reports that the Armenians will mark the centenary of Ottoman massacre. It is said that leaders of France, Russia have joined the ceremony marking the centenary of the massacre of some 1.5 million Armenians by Ottoman forces. Similarly, Jews remember the Holocaust perpetrated by Nazi Germany during World War II. But, in the Indian subcontinent, the Hindus are reluctant to remember their decimation, whether in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh or Kashmir. May I suggest that Hindus must observe August 16 as the Hindu Holocaust day, as on that day in 1946, All India Muslim league leader MA Jinnah had declared ‘Direct Action Day’, that led to the massacre of many hundreds of innocent Hindus in Bengal.
