Sir — This refers to top Government functionaries and the Congress top-brass rushing to Chhattisgarh after the Maoist attack, in which many leading politicians of the State unit of Congress were killed.
In the past too, many people have died in encounters between the Maoists and the security forces. It is also a fact that in many Maoist-infested States, there are numerous ‘red-pockets’ comprising villages which are ‘administered’ by the rebels rather than by democratically-elected Governments. Maoists are emboldened in their enterprise because of the support they get from marginalised people, frustrated by a system where the rich are becoming richer and poor, poorer.
A complete overhaul in the system is needed to eliminate unrest amongst people by replacing ‘rajniti’ with ‘lokniti’.
