For Nitish, his interests come before the nation's

This refers to the article, “Some poetic wisdom for embattled BJP” (April 24) by Rajesh Singh.

When Mr Barack Obama first won and became the US President, his rival, Ms Hillary Clinton, set aside all differences and bitterness for the sake of national interest and accepted the post of Secretary of State. She could have continued as the powerful Senator from New York, probably for life, but she sacrificed all that for the good of her country. Even Mr Obama reached out to her admirably.
Sadly, personal egos are bigger than national interest among Indian politicians. The reality is that the Chinese are breathing down the country’s neck, sending their troops to loiter in Indian territory some six miles deep — a provocative act; Pakistan is sending terrorists in Kashmir and elsewhere at will; Maoists are tearing the country apart from within; the UPA regime is sinking in corruption. But, Mr Nitish Kumar could not care less. He must get his pound of flesh.
