For greater good

Sir — This refers to the article, “Regional satraps eye the Centre” (March 22) by Kalyani Shankar. Both Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are good leaders. If only they could find a meeting ground, the country would definitely go forward in great leaps and bounds.

Both of them have pulled their State up with the boot straps to put them where they are today. Bihar in particular was a basket case under previous Chief Ministers. If a person with the good of India in mind can bring about a reasonable accord between the two leaders it would help the nation’s cause greatly.

The good thing is that neither State tries to enhance its image by talking about ‘special’ needs, which is one sure way to divide people and lose sight of the bigger picture — of general good, development and improvement of the people.
