Sir — This refers to the news report, “Namo Narendra, chants BJP in unison” (June 10). After being named as chairman of the BJP’s Election Campaign Committee, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi vowed to work for a “Congress-free India”.
Mr Modi’s ‘vow’ holds great assurance for the people of this nation who are fed-up with the corrupt, inefficient and apathetic Congress-led UPA regime that has only inflicted misery, inflation and an environment of fear and insecurity in the nine years of its rule.
It would also have been much better if the ‘missing’ stalwarts had shown maturity and participated in the crucial National Executive meet in Goa. Their presence would have made them taller in the eyes of the public and would have also dispelled the impression of ‘disunity’ within the party with a difference.
However, now that Mr Modi has been finally anointed to head the campaign panel, the party and the leaders should support him whole-heartedly. If need be, the BJP must not shy from going it alone if allies like the JD(U) decide to withdraw from the NDA. The party should prepare itself well and aim to contest and win maximum seats in the forthcoming Assembly and 2014 lok Sabha polls.
