Sir — This refers to the article, “BJP can’t rest with the citizens as taskmasters” (September 23) by Sandhya Jain. The writer appears to be misinformed about genetically improved crops.
Please speak to the farmers who have enjoyed the benefits of Bt Cotton. Farmer suicides are very sad, but this issue must not be misused to perpetuate one’s ideology. By falsely ascribing the causality of suicides to Bt Cotton, one is only ensuring that the farmers are deprived of the very innovation that might enhance their returns from farming. let’s be responsible.
