First win

Sir — The International Court of Justice in the Hague has put on hold the execution of Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav, who had been sentenced to death by a military court in Pakistan. Jadhav, was denied consular access. He was denied a lawyer too, to fight his case. It is a sheer violation of the international conventions. We provided all the facilities including assistance of lawyer to Ajmal Kasab, the lone terrorist survivor in the Mumbai attacks in 2008. Pakistan should not execute Jadhav till the court delivers its final verdict.
It is a victory for our concerted efforts to get him released. Since he was held in Iran, we should fight the case with vigour and see that he is released.   Pakistan should learn a lesson or two from this judgement. It should not act unilaterally in dealing with such cases. It should revamp the military courts too.
