Fighting IS

Sir — This refers to the article, “london horror: West must stop self-kicking” (March 27) by Balbir Punj. The writer has rightly analysed the world-wide menace of the Islamic State (IS) by stating that while jihadi terrorism is publicly opposed by Islamic Governments, forces at the State-level fund and
promote Islam as a world-conquering religion. Be it the UK, Germany, France or India, students are being brainwashed so that they resonate the call of
the IS so much that they take
up militancy.
However, there are plenty of solutions to this paradox. First, madrassas should stop teaching the concept of spread of Islam as an international religion
in schools.
Second, the Shia-Sunni divide must be minimised once and for all, as this creates the concept of Sunni dominance with a Sunni state like Salafistan, which is spreading like wildfire even in non-Islamic states.
