Fight mass copying

Sir — This refers to the article, “Eradicate the malaise of copying” (February 19) by JS Rajput. Kudos to the Yogi Adityanath Government for having launched a crackdown on the nakal mafia by controlling the uneasiness of mass copying. It was way back in 1992, when the Rajnath Singh-led BJP Government in Uttar Pradesh had used the same firm determination to restrain this sinister malpractice. This resulted in an abysmal low pass percentage in high school and intermediate board exams and led to uproarious scenes in the Assembly by opposition parties, especially the Samajwadi Party.

The latter completed its ominous promise of ‘restoring’ mass copying only to the detriment of the students when it came to power. Parents of the wards are to be blamed for the social evil as they are not only non-averse to this but also pay for mass copying to the nakal mafia, thereby putting the future of their wards in jeopardy.
