Faulty ordinance

Sir — This refers to the report, “Ordinance to help UPA friendIJ” (September 25). The move to have an ordinance to protect the convicted MPs and MlAs, while a Bill in that regard is pending before a parliamentary panel, is designed to help the Congress shield its allies and members.

The party has the dubious distinction of amending laws and the Constitution to benefit itself. We hope that President Pranab Mukherjee will not sign the ordinance and return it to the Government with his reservations.
