Sir — This refers to the frequent references that members of the Congress make on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sartorial taste and his visits abroad. Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi called the Government a ‘suit-boot ki sarkar’. But he forgets that some of his illustrious family members were known for their suit-boot image. One of them even reportedly sent his clothes for laundering to Paris.
As far as Mr Modi’s foreign visits are concerned, he has made those trips as part of national duty. He went there to enhance India’s image globally, and to attract foreign capital and technology, which is important for the country’s progress. The Congress has always been interested in keeping India poor for vote-bank purposes.
