This refers to the setting up of a multi-agency team to probe the ‘Panama leaks’. India is rather notorious for time-consuming probes which go on for decades in various scams and scandals. Since the Panama leaks are not limited to India, we should follow a healthy practice that provides a mechanism for supersonic speed in the probe of the Panama papers’ leaks.
In an otherwise super-fast era, the system of probes, especially affecting the rich and the powerful, goes in slow motion. At least the Union Government must ask the Indians listed in the Panama documents leaked, to file an affidavit about being involved or not, within a maximum of one week’s time, before a designated investigating agency.
