Sir — The situation is alarming with regards to rain-starved regions in Maharashtra, where nearly 100 farmers committed suicides this year. In Bengal, there is a crisis because of a slump in the price of potato. Unseasonal rains have destroyed crops in many parts of the country. The Government must come to the rescue of the farmers by being more accommodating and liberal.
