Sir — This refers to the report, “Consensus or fight, BJP sure of Prez of its pick” (May 29). The Congress and its top echelons strut about and behave as if they control and lead the entire Opposition, conveniently ignoring the equations in the relative political strengths between the BJP, which is ruling now, and the Congress, during its 10-year UPA rule. The party forgets how it had to cringe and meekly submit to the whims and caprices, not to say ‘greed’, of its alliance partners such as M Karunanidhi, lalu Prasad etc. When Narendra Modi speaks today, it is from a position of strength, firmness and control, which was highly conspicuous in its absence all the time when Manmohan Singh was the country’s Prime Minister.
