Failed experiment

Sir — This refers to the report, “Kejriwal has failed Delhiites: Sonia” (March 31). While blaming Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, Congress president Sonia Gandhi should not have ignored the fact that her party had offered unsolicited and unconditional support to the AAP in forming the minority Government in Delhi.

Mr Kejriwal has failed all those who saw in him a revolutionary when he formed the AAP on the anti-corruption plank and promised a new kind of politics and system of governance. As Delhi’s Chief Minister, he got an opportunity to prove himself but made a mess. He ran away, taking the escape route offered by the Jan lokpal Bill. He could have stayed and taken the case to the Supreme Court. But his national-level ambitions changed his priorities.

Suddenly ‘communalism’ became a greater evil for him than corruption and Mr Narendra Modi became his sole target. The AAP is now just another outfit in the so-called secular lot of parties. It is unlikely to have any significant presence in the 16th lok Sabha.
