Expose double standards of pseudo-secularists

Published on:

This refers to the article, “Exit Aurangzeb, enter APJ Abdul Kalam” (September 15) by A Surya Prakash. The author has rightly exposed the hypocrisy and double standards of pseudo-secularists, who have opposed the renaming of Aurangzeb Road as APJ Abdul Kalam Road. It is sickening to realise that these elements never objected to the renaming of British roads, malls and hospitals etc. What happened to their so-called love for historyIJ Why is it so important to perpetuate the hateful memory of a tyrant, despotic ruler like AurangzebIJ

One bizarre logic is that the BJP dispensation has influenced the change of a Muslim ruler's name from a New Delhi's major road. Aurangzeb’s supporters defend him by citing a few of the Mughal king's pro-Hindu acts such as renovating a temple, overlooking his long record of cruelties against Hindus and Sikhs. How can any sensible Indian disapprove of the road being named after former President APJ Abdul KalamIJ
