Sir — The 15th lok Sabha was the worst ever one India has had. We saw more of repeated disruptions, shouting and pandemonium than serious work. Pepper-sprays were used, papers snatched and mikes were uprooted. The House set a bad precedent that Bills can be passed without any debate. Also, blackout of proceedings was resorted to so that bad publicity could be avoided.
looking at the happenings in the House, it is time to bring in a code of conduct for our lawmakers so as to discipline them. Also, no lawmaker should be allowed to hold office for a third time. People must be given the power of recalling their representatives. These measures will be a feather in the cap of democracy.
