Sir — The Madras High court’s directive to the NHAI to create separate lanes on toll plazas for VIPs, including judges of higher courts, is surprising. It would have been better if the court would have instead issued directions to replace one-time toll tax at the time of purchase of new vehicles. The fund could be utilised for developing new highways and expressways. In fact, the time has come to end the VIP culture in toto.
