Sir — This refers to the report “Korea deny India direct entry” (September 2). Though India failed to defeat Korea in the Asia Cup, our players put up a spirited display in all the matches they played, losing only in the final match of the hockey tournament.
One hopes that our team will restore the game’s lost glory and position it used to enjoy in the past. And to ensure this, the Government, the sports managers and the people have to offer adequate support and encouragement. The lukewarm welcome that the players received on their return is one example of our apathy towards our sportspersons. If this remains the trend, sports in the country will never flourish.
