This refers to the editorial, “love India, love Tokyo!” (December 16). The strengthening of ties between India and Japan augurs well for both the economies. The editorial has rightly said that the personal equation shared between Prime Ministers Shinzo Abe and Narendra Modi has contributed handsomely to the warming of ties between Tokyo and New Delhi, resulting in the fructification of several key deals that will undoubtedly have a large bearing on international politics for years to come.
The massive commitments that Japan has made to India will boost India’s credentials as a responsible nuclear state. Besides, the deals will also empower India’s potential to transform its economy, steer growth and enhance its status as a rising power.
However, the strengthening of ties between India and Japan should not threaten the Chinese, for each country has its own strengths and priorities, which must be well-directed to fashioning a safe, peaceful and promising world for all.
