Sir — The refers to the editorial, “The stray problem” (May 14). The fact is that stray dog menace is on the rise but the need of the hour is immediate resolution. Dog menace can no more be treated as a “stray” case. Notwithstanding the voice of animal lovers, in view of the high incident of dog bites, no sympathy should be shown while dealing with stray dogs because only those who are bitten know the trauma. For speedy resolution, more dog-shelters must be built. Besides making the dogs sterile, the municipal corporation must actively drive out stray dogs from the streets. Indeed, dog is a pet animal as long as it remains at home and till the time he/she is under the control of his master. The moment it comes out, it becomes equivalent to a stray dog. Every State Government must take stringent measures to deal with stray dogs.
