Dwindling presence

Sir — At a time when this country needs strong national parties it is indeed unfortunate that the Congress is facing an existential crisis. The Congress’s loss in Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana was because votes of 14 Congress MlAs were declared invalid. This because the party is still dependent on dynastic politics. Instead of projecting next generation from Nehru-Gandhi family as the only possible political heirs to take command of the party, the Congress should experiment for a new type of politics by handing over the command of party-affairs to highly-talented youth with bright academic carrier rather than political professionals coming from political families.
