Sir — This refers to the article, “BJP must rethink strategy” (April 17) by Jasim Mohammad. The BJP has always been a centrist party. In reality, the Congress, which claims to be centrist, has mostly been a left-leaning party (barring a few people like lal Bahadur Shastri and PV Narasimha Rao).
It was the leftist propaganda, ironically aided by Western insecurities due to their heartburn of having lost a valuable colony, that pushed the narrative as such that the entire political spectrum started to be perceived as being shifted towards the Right with respect to their actual respective positions.
