Sir —This refers to the article, “The more it sinks, the more it stinks” (November 14) by Gautam Mukherjee.

leading papers and television channels raised the matter when limited companies with small capital bases of a few lakh rupees were able to get millions of dollars by sale of new shares in their companies, when all they had was the 2G Spectrum licence. In the coal block allocation scam, companies who had no intention to mine coal were purchased for huge amounts once they got the coal blocks. The Comptroller and Auditor-General of India has been abused because it questioned the ruling party’s dubious policy decisions. Government policies should have rationale; else they are bound to be questioned.
