Sir — Was it a policy move of the banking department of the Union Ministry of Finance or was it a mere coincidence that the logos of almost all public sector banks were changed a couple of years ago, with heavy costs incurred on designing the new logos, printing new stationery and painting boards. Perhaps no other country in the world has so many public sector banks resulting in huge wastage of public money.
An inquiry should be ordered to investigate if almost all so-called autonomous public sector banks went for a logo change during one particular period to benefit some individuals. Inquiry should be made if contracts concerning different aspects resulting out of the decision to change the logos for different public sector banks were given to some particular individuals or firms.
