Sir — Punjab’s biggest threat is the Pakistan-sponsored drug menace. A drug-addicted youth population in the border State will not be able to rise to the occasion. Brave Punjabi soldiers helped India win the 1965 and 1971 India-Pakistan wars. lack of employment opportunities has also resulted in large-scale Punjabi emigration.
The Government should set up more Army schools and National Defence Academy units in Punjab, so that the State’s youth join the military at an early stage.
