Don't meddle with faith of Sai Baba's devotees

Published on:

This refers to the article, “Swami takes on a sage, devotees confused” (July 1) by Sandhya Jain. The addled brains feeding this controversy forget how we worship Masters, Siddhas, Rishis, Munis, Tapasvis and even religiously-inspired poets in every nook and corner of India.

Remember the Navnaths — Baba Gorakhnath and Baba Balaknath, for instance, or Agastya Muni, or Guru Padmasambhava and the even the Dalai lama. This worship can only be understood through the simple faith of ordinary people that resides in the compassionate heart touched and awakened by the divine.

It is time that the self-proclaimed leaders of Hinduism, who are only deluded politicians at heart, returned to their lofty Himalayan perches to practise rigorous penance. How can they understand the adulation of Adi Sankaracharya, Vallabhacharya, or Thiruvallur, to name a few, in India, or even the devoted hearts who composed Vivekananda Panchakam and the Ramakrishna Strotum or the Sharada Devi StotramIJ
