Sir — This refers to the article, “Not the time for sabre-rattling” (August 29) by Pravin Sawhney.
One would like to ask the writer a simple question: Have peace overtures by India in the past yielded beneficial results that we need to go for them at this junctureIJ let Pakistan show that it is earnest about addressing our concerns before we engage with them. Ceasefire violations, cross-border firing and infiltrations are issues the Army has dealt with all along the Jammu & Kashmir border.
An equally important task is to ensure the territorial integrity of our nation, which is what the men in uniform are doing in the restive J&K region. The less we deride our Armed Forces the better it is, especially for the morale of the men on ground who are doing their best in hazardous circumstances.
