Sir — This refers to the editorial, “It is time to act. Period” (September 20). Even as the nation mourns the death of 18 Indian soldiers who lost their lives in the Uri attack, the terror incident has given the Opposition an opportunity to embarrass the Modi Government for lack of defence preparedness.
The Modi Government has a difficult task ahead and is in a fix. At a time when the country is finally moving towards progress and economic development, any proactive military engagement would mean disruption in achieving the goal. If it does not take action, it will lose credibility. Whatever be the case, the Government must not delay action, to be taken after consultation with the military.
